Often times what a culture leaves behind is it's Gods.. and it's garbage. Slag is part of a series titled 'What we leave behind' that explores the juxtoposition of spirituality and the gods we leave behind, along with the more tangible marks we have made on the world in the form of our discarded goods.
If there are spirits of the forest, water, etc., what effect does our lifestyle have on them? When we are gone, what mark will we have left on the world?
I'm also exploring Industrial nouveau and how even the most manmade of objects is still a flowing part of nature. It's weird that we have a divide between 'man made' and 'natural', when simply by existing we are part of the natural world. Yet we see ourselves as different and 'other'. Our creations are not natural because we are not a part of nature.
